Cirencester, 6 July 2007
lFS Defence Ltd today (6 July 2007) completed the acquisition of Information Science Consultants Ltd (iSC).
This is a significant strategic step for IFS Defence and iSC, and demonstrates our commitment to provide class-leading enterprise solutions for Aerospace & Defence. IFS Defence and iSC believe that the transaction will realise significant benefits for both businesses, and for our customers and partners. In consolidating the proven capabilities of IFS Defence in the Air and Land domains with iSC’s Maritime capability, we believe this transaction aligns with the UK MoD’s strategy to improve and rationalise Engineering & Asset Management (E&AM) applications. Working together, IFSD and iSC will be able to offer a more comprehensive, integrated solution to customers across the armed forces and industry, both in the UK and globally. This aligns with IFS Defence's strategy to become the global leading EAM & MRO solutions provider for Aerospace & Defence.
iSC delivers maintenance management software and services, with particular strength in the implementation of Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) methodologies. iSC’s focus is on the Naval sector, providing solutions for the UK Royal Navy fleet, including the key onboard and onshore Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS). UMMS is recognised as the MoD’s preferred ‘front-end’ toolset for Maritime E&AM.
iSC will operate as a distinct business unit of IFS Defence. iSC’s current Managing Director, Dr Mark Horton remains with the business, overseeing day to day management and seeking to develop future opportunities to deliver benefit from the joint capability. The ongoing priority is to continue to develop and support current programmes, and to ensure that IFS solutions for Aerospace & Defence continue to evolve to meet the needs of our customers and partners. IFS Defence will also continue iSC’s commitment to providing world class Reliability-Centred software tools.
