UMMS is a feature rich engineering administration and maintenance management system based on the principles of RCM. The application has been in use with the UK Royal Navy since 2003 and at the time of writing is being rolled out across its surface fleet.
The solution is an enterprise level distributed database application delivered through a web-based architecture that allows simple application delivery with a large user population. The application is portable, scalable, easy to administer and simple to upgrade, minimising through-life costs.
The application provides built-in workflow management to administer both planned maintenance and equipment breakdowns. Specific emphasis has been placed on the effective use of condition-based maintenance (CBM) outputs to trigger remedial maintenance actions. The system can be interfaced to CBM systems as required by the client.
A major feature of UMMS is its ability to handle user feedback on plant configuration, maintenance tasks, defects and spare parts, providing targeted information that allows the organisation to pursue an effective strategy of continuous improvement.
UMMS is installed in Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels with the approval of Lloyd's Register.
The application enables maintenance, defect corrective action and feedback information from remote locations to be replicated to a central system to facilitate enterprise planning and management.
User Interface: Based on Microsoft Windows using the Internet Explorer web browser.
Asset Administration: Full inventory details of all assets administered by the system including serialised parts and asset attributes.
Maintenance: Planning and management of maintenance tasks. Captures and holds comprehensive completion details.
RCM: Imports maintenance requirements from RCM RN and displays RCM information including the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Task Decisions and Failure Mode Details.
Defects: Captures, reports and administers corrective action including feedback and can associate feedback with RCM failure modes.
Replication: Comprehensive capabilities to allow sites to replicate data to and from a central location on demand.
Reports: An extensive set of pre-formatted and customer defined reports covering the full range of application functionality.
